The President of France, Emmanuel Macron, was slapped by a man during trip to Tain-l’Hermitage outside Valence, South East of France today.

A video circulated on social media showed how Macron walked to a barrier and was slapped in the face.

Echoes from the crowd could be heard shouting “à bas la Macronie meaning down with Macron-ism“. See video below:Some politicians however have denied the incidence with Prime Minister Jean Castex noting that democracy “must never in any case mean violence, verbal aggression and even less physical attack”.The incident took place while Macron was on a visit where he met restauranteurs and students to talk about how life is returning to normal after the COVID-19 pandemic.
