The long awaited speech, whether short or long by the national leader of the All Progressives Congress {APC}, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, to run for the coveted seat of the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, has finally come and gone, but the effect and the aftermath activities have just begun!
And it would be 30 years after by 2023, when the real agitation for an ideal progressives, commenced the actualization for a South-West Presidential candidate. And for the late pillar of sports in Africa, Chief Moshood Kashimawo Olawale Abiola, came with ‘Hope 93’, but it is expected that by 2023, the Jagaban of Borgu, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, will finally actualize that elusive dream, and make Nigeria prosper at last.
To begin with, the All Progressives Congress {APC}, in 2021, have commenced strategic advocacy for the former ‘Two-term Governor of Lagos State, to be the next political personality, that would succeed President Muhammadu Buhari, come May 29, 2023!
The news on Asiwaju declaring his ambition to run as President of Nigeria in 2023, came after the former Senator met with the President of Nigeria; His Excellency Muhammadu Buhari GCFR, at the Presidential Villa in Abuja, earlier on Monday January 10, 2022.
This announcement that has been greeted with wider optimism, largely by protégée of Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu and members of APC, and is considered as strategically timely, and politically beneficial for the foot soldiers that are determined to see the national leader of APC become the next President of the country.
The categorical declaration of ambition to run for President by Asiwaju, could be considered as the umbilical cord that will navigate a pathway for the long awaited national convention of the APC, owing to controversy surrounding it in recent times.
To many, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu should be wary of the political fall-out that ensued between the late philanthropist and former Presidential candidate of the Social Democratic Party {SDP} Chief Moshood Kashimawo Olawale Abiola and former Head of State of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, General Ibrahim Badamosi Babangida {Rtd.}, after he declared his intention to run for President of the country.
The African aphorism which posited that thunder does not strike twice in a spot, must become a conscious guard towards the actualization of this strategic declaration by Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, among his protégé and loyalists.
The declaration is symbolic for the South-West, and the onus of trust and betrayal must be examined from the home front with critical diplomacy.
For Asiwaju, who in his categorical declaration of ambition to run as President, posited that consultation is ongoing with Nigerians, and that there was no parameter to the limitation of people to be consulted, is pregnant with swift reactions in a proactive manner from the foot soldiers that are ready to carry this crusade of Asiwaju’s candidacy beyond the boarder of South-West Nigeria.
For the members of the All Progressives Congress {APC}, the real deal for 2023 has just begun, let history and posterity take charge, for 2023, if it shall be handled pragmatically; shall lay the ghost of Hope 93 to rest….
