The affected gas pipeline has been depressurized and the risk of fire has been eliminated, therefore residents and business owners are advised to resume their normal activities.

Recall that the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) had earlier alerted Ikeja residents to avoid open fire following a massive gas leakage in some parts of the area.

Spokesperson, NEMA South West, Ibrahim Farinloye, in a statement on Wednesday said residents around the affected areas were prohibited from opening their shops.

“Residents around Computer Village, Underbridge Awolowo Way, and Oba Akran axis, Anifowose Street, Medical Road must not open shops or use open naked fire for safety reasons.

“Distressed alert just received indicates massive leakage of gas pipeline around these areas.” He added.
