Idi-Iroko Checkpoints: AIG Fayoade Holds Strategic Meeting with Operational Commanders

The Assistant Inspector-General of Police, Zone 2 Command, AIG Adegoke M. Fayoade, mni, psc, has held a strategic meeting with operational commanders overseeing the Idi-Iroko, Imeko, and Aiyetoro areas to address the growing concerns over the excessive number of checkpoints mounted by security agencies along these routes.
The meeting focused on streamlining and rationalizing checkpoints to ensure effective security operations while curbing acts of extortion and undue harassment of motorists and residents. AIG Fayoade described the current situation as embarrassing and emphasized the need to maintain professionalism and integrity in all security engagements.

He also called for enhanced synergy among security agencies and community stakeholders within the affected areas to promote trust, transparency, and efficient policing.

In addition, the AIG directed senior officers to sensitize their subordinates on maintaining professionalism and courtesy while discharging their statutory duties. To ensure compliance, he ordered the immediate creation of a Task Force to supervise, monitor, and regulate checkpoint activities, thereby ensuring that officers on duty adhere strictly to laid-down operational standards.
