It was an evening of artistic brilliance and cultural elegance last Sunday when ace Nollywood actor, Jumoke Odetola premiered her blockbuster movie titled ‘My Mirror’ to an enthusiastic audience gathered at the Radisson Blu Hotel in Ikeja GRA. The event which had the duo of Bash and Lepacious Bose as comperes and
Kayefi and her crew delivering rich African music also had many entertainers like Femi Adebayo, Afeez Owo, Mide Martins, Seun Akindele, Owen Gee, Korede Bello, Ayo Adesanya turning up to grace the occasion in support of their own, Jumoke ‘the Gargantuan Genius’.
The Oluwo of Iwo, Oba Abdulrasheed Akanbi who was physically present at the movie premiere was full of praises for the young thespian who is blazing the trail on many fronts. The Royal reiterated the importance of hard work as a key to greatness in all spheres of life.
The movie which starred other actors such as Seun Akindele, Odunlade Adekola, Afeez Owo Abiodun, Ayo Olaiya, Allwell Ademola and others is an insightful movie which projected the life of a young couple in their pursuit of career progression and socioeconomic advancement as a mirror of what happens in many contemporary homes. This led to feelings of emotional distress, exhaustion, disappointment, and abuse in the family.
‘My Mirror’ directed by Gboyega Ashowo is a suspense-filled and humour-rich motion picture, is bound to entertain and educate the public on the psychological and emotional effects of abuse on families. It also emphasizes the importance of seeking professional counsel and therapy as a way out of abuse.
