The Lagos State Commissioner of Police, CP Olorundare Moshood Jimoh, on Monday October 20, led some officers in the state command in a ‘show of force’ demonstration in preparation for the #FreeNnamdiKanu protest slated for the day as announced by activist, Mr. Omoyele Sowore, National Association of Online Security News Publishers, NAOSNP can report.
Speaking in Ikeja, CP Jimoh emphasized, ‘This operation seeks to install confidence in the public and reassure all Lagosians of their safety.
He further offered reassurance that individuals can go about their daily business without fear of apprehension.
‘We are aware of protests taking place in certain parts of the country, and we would like to inform the people of Lagos there are no ongoing protests within the state.
To maintain public order, we have strategically deployed personnel to historically sensitive locations, including the under bridge in Ikeja, Maryland, Ojota, Lekki Tollgate, and all local communities within the state, to prevent any potential disruption of peace in Lagos.
‘I want to assure all Lagosians and visitors that Lagos is safe and free from protests, CP Jimoh added.
According to the Police boss, taking law into one’s hands by calling for the protests is no longer tolerated, as it disrupts the daily lives of students, business owners, and individuals seeking medical attention.
The Lagos State Police Command guarantees the safety and security of all individuals in the state.
He also disclosed that he received reports of incidents in Lagos 15 minutes, and consequently, there was no single report of a protest in the state.
Lagos Police boss was joined by the Commanders of Rapid Response Squad (RRS), Task Force, Tactical Squad and others during the demonstration on Monday.
