LSSTF Beefs Up Security With Donation of Bulletproof Vests, Helmets to Lagos Taskforce, Lagos Neighbourhood Safety Agency

The Lagos State Security Trust Fund has donated critical operational equipment, including bulletproof vests and ballistic helmets to the Lagos State Taskforce and the Lagos Neighbourhood Safety Agency LNSA, reinforcing ongoing efforts to maintain law, order and public safety across the state.

The donations were presented during separate visits by the Executive Secretary/CEO of LSSTF, Dr. Ayodele Ogunsan alongside with the Director of Admin, Mr. Adegbola Lewis, to the Lagos Taskforce Headquarters in Oshodi and the Lagos Neighbourhood Safety Agency (LNSA) facility where he also toured operational areas and personnel dormitories of Lagos Taskforce personnel.

At the Lagos Taskforce Headquarters, the security equipment was formally received by the Chairman of the agency, CSP Adetayo Akerele, while the General Manager of the LNSA, Prince Ifalade Oyekan, received the items for his agency. The intervention included the donation of multiple units of ballistic helmets, bulletproof vests aimed at enhancing personnel protection and emergency response capabilities.

Speaking during the presentations, Dr. Ogunsan described the intervention as part of the clear mandate of the LSSTF to provide “equipment, logistics and training for all security agencies operating within Lagos State.”

Referring to the LNSA as a critical state security institution, he said: “They are our own pride. Whatever we need to nurture them, equip them and ensure that they operate to global standards in keeping Lagos safe, we are ready to do it.”

He clarified that the anti-riot equipment was not intended for aggression, but for maintaining public order during protests, civil disturbances and other emergencies. “We are not preparing men for war; we are preparing personnel capable of containing the excesses of miscreants and unruly elements so Lagosians can sleep with their two eyes closed,” he said.

Dr. Ogunsan further emphasized the importance of prioritizing the welfare and safety of security personnel, noting that officers entrusted with protecting society must themselves be adequately protected and valued.

The Chairman of the Lagos Taskforce, CSP Adetayo Akerele, expressed appreciation to LSSTF for the sustained support and strategic investment in security operations, noting that the donation would significantly boost the operational effectiveness, morale and safety of personnel carrying out enforcement duties across the state.

Similarly, Prince Oyekan commended the LSSTF for consistently prioritizing the welfare and preparedness of LNSA personnel, describing the intervention as timely and vital to strengthening community-based security operations and rapid response capacity within Lagos communities.

The visits also witnessed colourful displays by personnel of Lagos Neighbourhood Safety Agency, with officers of the LNSA fully kitted in the newly donated anti-riot gear, underscoring the growing operational synergy between the LSSTF and security institutions safeguarding Lagos State.
