By Oki Samson

After a long drawn battle and defiance of her suspension by the Nigerian Senate, Sen. Natasha Akpoti’s tactless attitude has finally led her into bigger trouble to swim. Had she apologized to her colleagues in the upper legislature, she would have since resumed her position as a serving senator. Instead, she dragged the entire upper legislative house to court.

The same court has given a judgment to counter her long held position and has forced her to not only apologize to her colleagues but the entire country, National Association of Online Security News Publishers, NAOSNP can report.

Her is ‘a classic case of pennywise, pound foolish’ noted Dr. Monday Ubani SAN in his brief remarks made available to the National Association of Online Security News Publishers, NAOSNP concerning the recent judgment against Senator Natasha Akpoti.

Barr. Ubani highlighted: ‘After months of defiance, the court has ruled decisively against Senator Natasha. Despite being asked by the Senate through a resolution to apologise to the Senate since February, she chose instead to approach the court.’

‘Five months later, the outcome is clear: she must now render a public apology, not only in the Senate chamber, but also in two national newspapers and on her Facebook page. In addition, the court imposed a ₦5 million fine payable to the Federal Government. A classic case of being penny wise, pound foolish.’

Dr. Monday O. Ubani, SAN advised young Nigerians to take a cue from this situation and be advised against defiance against authority across all levels.
