POLITICAL EARTHQUAKE IN AMUWO ODOFIN: UMEADI QUITS ADC, JOINS NDC TO LEAD 2027 RESCUE MISSION…Says New Political Platform Will Accelerate People-Centered Representation

The political landscape of Amuwo Odofin Federal Constituency witnessed a major shift on Sunday as frontline 2027 House of Representatives aspirant, Hon. Engr. Azubuike Emmanuel Umeadi, formally announced his resignation from the African Democratic Congress (ADC) and his immediate defection to the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC).

The strategic political realignment, which has already generated widespread reactions across the constituency, is being widely interpreted as a decisive move that could significantly reshape the race for Amuwo Odofin’s federal representation ahead of the 2027 general elections.

In an official statement, Umeadi described his defection as the outcome of extensive consultations with political allies, community stakeholders, grassroots leaders, youth groups, women associations, and supporters across Amuwo Odofin.
He emphasized that the decision was driven by one overriding objective, to position himself on a stronger, more viable political platform capable of delivering the purposeful, responsive, and transformative representation long desired by the people of the constituency.

While appreciating the African Democratic Congress for the opportunities and political experiences he gained during his time with the party, Umeadi noted that the prolonged internal challenges and uncertainty surrounding the party’s future made it necessary for progressive leaders with genuine electoral ambitions to seek a more stable and forward-looking alternative.

According to him, the Nigeria Democratic Congress offers a fresh national outlook anchored on credible leadership, people-driven governance, and democratic renewal.
He also linked his decision to the ongoing wave of political realignments across the country, particularly the reported alignment of notable national political figures with the NDC, describing the development as a strong signal of the party’s growing national acceptability and strategic relevance ahead of 2027.

Political observers within Amuwo Odofin believe Umeadi’s entry into the NDC further strengthens his profile as one of the most formidable emerging voices in the constituency’s evolving political equation.
Reaffirming his unwavering commitment to the people, Umeadi assured constituents that his defection would further energize his grassroots consultations, strategic engagements, and mobilization efforts toward building a more inclusive, progressive, and prosperous Amuwo Odofin.

He maintained that the 2027 project is not about personal ambition but about restoring effective representation, amplifying the voices of the people, and delivering measurable democratic dividends to every community across the federal constituency. “The mission remains clear: to work with the people, for the people, and together, make history in 2027,” he declared.
