X User Applauds Ijede DPO, Lagos Police Command for Swift Response to Robbery, Recovery of Stolen Items

A Twitter/X user, Joseph Aluko, has commended the Ijede Police Division of the Lagos State Command for what he described as a prompt and decisive response to a robbery incident in the Ijede area of Ikorodu. In a post shared on social media monitored by the National Association of Online Security News Publishers, NAOSNP, Aluko praised the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) and his team for their intervention following an early-morning robbery attack reportedly carried out in the Okeletu and Mamood areas of Ijede on Saturday, September 13, 2026.

According to him, the attackers allegedly targeted four buildings between about 2:30 a.m. and 3:40 a.m., making away with valuables including mobile phones, laptops, wristwatches and cash. He said the Police responded swiftly after receiving a distress call, leading to the arrest of one of the suspected robbers around Mamood.

Aluko claimed information obtained during the investigation subsequently assisted the police in tracking and arresting additional suspects in areas including Apapa, Alaba Rago and Ogijo. He further stated that about 80 per cent of the allegedly stolen items had been recovered by the Ijede Police Division, adding that CCTV footage provided valuable assistance to the police investigation.

While commending President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, the Commissioner of Police, Lagos State Command, CP Fatai Tijani, the Alajede of Ijede, the Local government leadership and the DPO of Ijede division and the police officers involved in the operation, Aluko used the opportunity to call for intensified security measures. He urged more intelligence gathering and efforts to identify and clear suspected criminal hideouts in swampy areas. He also called for continued support for security agencies and sustained action to prevent similar attacks in Ijede and other parts of Lagos State.
