Structured Community Security initiatives across Lagos are assured of the tremendous support of Lagos State Government under the leadership of Gov. Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu, the Executive Secretary/CEO of Lagos State Security Trust Fund, LSSTF, Dr. Ayodele Ogunsan has revealed. He made this known today at the official launch of the Agege Security Trust Fund, which is perhaps the first of such initiatives by LGAs and LCDAs in Lagos. During the event, the LSSTF Chief donated an operational vehicle to the LGA while also promising the delivery of ballistic helmets, bulletproof vests, raincoats and other protective gears to support the exceptional initiative of the Chairman of Agege LGA, Hon. Vinod Obasa. The event held at the Agege LGA Secretariat on 8th October 2026, National Association of Online Security News Publishers, NAOSNP can report.

In his highly applauded speech by stakeholders gathered at the event, the Executive Secretary/CEO of LSSTF, Dr. Ogunsan indicated that moving forward structured community initiatives which will improve security across the Lagos metropolis will be supported by Gov. Sanwo-Olu. He noted that the task of safety and security is anchored on four key stakeholders. They are the government, the people, the security agencies and the private sector, as he urged the Agege LGA Chairman to make moves for more private sector support. He also promised to drum support for the initiative.

Ogunsan said: “I want to lead by example. Lagos State Government has succeeded in running this initiative since 2007. By December we will have the 20th anniversary of a successful operation of the Lagos State Security Trust Fund. When we are 20, Agege LGA is starting out. By the time Agege Security Trust Fund turns 20, I can assure that Agege will be the pride of Lagos and will be the safest in Lagos State.”
“Today, we are donating a brand new operational vehicle to Agege LGA as our contribution to the efforts of the Agege LGA Chairman. We will also send 10 units of ballistic helmets, 10 bulletproof vests, raincoats, and operational boots to support the initiative,” he declared the intervention.

Expressing his excitement, the Chairman of Agege LGA, Hon. Vinod Obasa highly praised the LSSTF CEO, Dr. Ogunsan in his speech. “We appreciate what you are doing for this community. This is the first time I am meeting you and you have surprised us greatly with your support. We want to continue to spotlight the issues of safety and security as a government because that is the duty that the Constitution has placed upon us.”

He, then, reeled out the list of the members of the board of the Agege Security Trust Fund to include himself, Hon. Vinod Obasa, the former Orile-Agege LCDA Chair, Hon. JS Babatunde, the LSSTF representative, Mr. Adeniran Samson Israel among others. He also noted that Mr. Anikulapo will be the inaugural CEO of the funding initiative.
The Lagos Commissioner of Police, CP Fatai Tijani charged the community, “We have to work together in partnership, That is the concept of community policing. We should not allow crime and criminality to thrive. Through the LSSTF there is enormous impact that the Lagos State Government is having on security, we can’t allow it to deteriorate. All security agencies no matter how many we are, we are still largely short of manpower. And that’s why we need the people. Let everybody know that we are part of the security architecture.
Also speaking, the former Orile-Agege LCDA Chairman noted that the wards play a critical role in ensuring safety in the grassroots. He noted that they are influential in “identifying vulnerable locations, gathering early intelligence, and building connection between security agencies and people” and encouraged that “the people behind the Agege security trust fund must be honest and show inclusivity in their affairs as security is built through trust and partnership.”
Lending his voice to community security, the apex leader of APC in Agege LGA, Safari Adaranijo urged the people of Agege LGA to focus heavily on security indicating that the community is the best stakeholder to drive her own security,”we are our own security system, let the husband take charge of the security in his home, the government cannot do everything for us.”
The Commissioner of Police, CP Fatai Tijani; former Chairman of Orile-Agege LCDA, Hon. JS Babatunde, the first Chairman of Agege LGA, Hon. Owolabi Dada, the Area G Commander, ACP Veronica Ameh Akpa, the council manager, Osikoya Adesina, and other leaders of thought across Agege LGA and Orile-Agege LCDA hailed the lofty presentation as a great way to jumpstart the community security initiative. They also celebrated the Executive Secretary CEO of LSSTF, Dr. Ayodele Ogunsan on his 50th birthday at the event.
